What I do...

My interests center on theoretical linguistic models that can plausibly be applied to a diachronic account of English syntax. Specifically, I have been working on the principles that guide resolution of ellipsis and how it could be that a multi-level approach seems the best one if synchronic and diachronic generality is to be achieved. A long-term goal of my research is to produce a theoretically-informed discussion of English ellipsis (Verb Phrase ellipsis and sluicing in particular), showing the path of its development from Old English to Present-day English.
