Econophysics merges economy and physics and therefore the program of the econophysics studies shold focus on this. We think that it is important to find balance between such subjects as mathematics, physics, statistics, and micro/macroeconomy, theory of finance or elements of management. The present shape of the program is a result of many discussions we had between the authors of this paper. Some details have also been extensively discussed with our colleagues from the Academy of Economy in Katowice and ING-Bank Śląski Katowice. The courses can be divided into 6 groups:
Students are required to learn mathematics, physics, IT,economy, psychology, marketing and management according to the minimal requirements set for studies of physics and management. After the third year of their studies they cancontinue complementary studies either in physics or in management. During their licentiate studies student have to attend some additional courses in physics or management related to the type of complementary studies they opt for in the future.
They attend their master degree studies for a period of two years, and then obtain their MA degree.
The econophysics studies are conducted, as all interdisciplinary education courses at the Insitute of Physics,
in a 3 year + 2 year system.
Of course, in both cases (MA degree in physics or management), they have to complete a few additional courses. These courses are provided regularly for physics or management students, so there is no need to prepare special courses for them.
